GGEC Joins Fellow Advisory Board Members To Promote Interoperable High-Definition Wireless Audio In The Home Theater

SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 18, 2012 – The Wireless Speaker and Audio (WiSA™) Association, today announced new Advisory Board member GGEC, a major, vertically integrated audio and speaker design and manufacturing company headquartered in China. GGEC joins fellow Advisory Board members Aperion Audio, DEI Holdings, Inc. The WiSA Association was founded to advance the adoption of wirelessly transmitted high-definition (HD) surround-sound audio in the home theater environment by establishing the industry’s first interoperability specification and compliance testing programs for manufacturers of high-performance wireless speakers, DTVs, Blu-ray Disc players, and other consumer electronics (CE) devices. “Our customers expect us to offer the most advanced technology within the high end audio and wireless audio category and joining the WiSA Association as an Advisory Board member was an obvious choice for us,” said Dave Cox, vice president of new business development at GGEC. “We are eager to support the Association and bring WiSA-compliant products to market whereby addressing the challenges of interoperability which have plagued the industry for years.”

The WiSA Association Advisory Board is currently reviewing the compliance test specification and plans to deliver a 1.0 version in the third quarter of 2012. Vendors who receive WiSA compliance will have the advantage of being first to market with an interference-free, HD wireless surround sound audio system, signaling to consumers that their products are reliable, flexible and interoperate with other WiSA-compliant components and CE devices.

“The reality is that today’s consumers want HD wireless surround speakers to match the HD video quality of their HDTVs, Blu-ray players, and gaming consoles and with the announcement of GGEC’s WiSA membership, a premier ODM and OEM for many of the world’s speaker brands, we see an opportunity for more products to be developed and available with WiSA compliance,” said Jim Venable, president of the WiSA Association. “GGEC is the ODM and OEM of choice for many of the world’s top tier speaker brands and we are thrilled to have them participate at this level and share their audio expertise and leadership.”
